In response to demands from the Black Student Union, the UCSB administration secured funding for various programs and initiatives aimed to improve the educational access and resources for Black students.
These demands set forth by the BSU began in March of 2013.  Since then, the UC Santa Barbara administration actively worked towards fulfilling these demands such as the hiring of an admissions counselor for diversity initiatives, two psychologists, and four endowed Chairs; all of which were created to enhance initiatives to recruit Black students to UCSB.  Additionally, efforts were created for a display to be placed in North Hall to honor the Black student activists involved in "The 1968 Takeover."
